2022 Goal check in…
I’m kind of on track!
What I’ve done during the first three months of the year:
BONDS OF MAGIC series:
- I did my last round of edits on SEEDS OF POWER!
- I’m consistently submitting LAND OF MONSTERS (the fully drafted sequel to SoP) to my writing group.
- I’m late but actively working on my agent list.
DREAMCATCHER series:
- I rewrote book 1 again, changing the way I introduce Lena and Matthew again and putting the ending back to where I originally had it. I sent it off to some beta readers. Fingers crossed this is a stronger book one (of four).
- I’m currently working on editing/expanding DREAMWEAVER (book 2 of 4) now that book one’s ending changed. If the book one beta readers are willing, I’ll pass them the rest of the books in this series to read for me.
OTHER:
- I increased book my reviewer activities using Bookish First, NetGalley, and other ARC or book tour opportunities. I finished several NetGalley ARCs and indie author gifted books. I’ve added #bookreviewer to my Twitter profile description and started tweeting links to my Goodreads reviews. I am really enjoying this part of my life.
- Bookstagram is going well. I added regular end of month “wrap-up” posts to my current schedule of reviews and fun challenges. I’ve made some new awesome connections with other readers and writers. Such a great community.
- Little by little I’ve been following more readers, reviewers, and writers on Twitter to make more connections. I swapped out my participation in some word prompts/hashtag themes to engage with different people.
What’s next:
- Keep reading and reviewing books!
- Keep writing!
- Have a publishing friend review/edit my query letter draft for SoP. (Then be brave and send some!)
- Dive back into standalone novel RED HOUR to finish the draft. It’s only about 70% complete and has big plot holes.
- Focus on my Facebook page content and engagement. I just started sharing my fav book reviews from Instagram onto my FB page.
- I did try to write a short story to publish here on my website so people can get a sample of my style and/or to submit to contests BUT one story had more of a paranormal/horror vibe than fantasy and the other felt more like YA romance/memoir—it’s just what came out of my brain those days. I need to try again.
Can I do all this?
Stay tuned…
