And thanks for the perspective. Merry almost Christmas to those who celebrate and Happy Holidays to all! 2025 is almost here, and it’s time to look back at my goals for 2024. My writing group continues to challenge me to improve and I’m so grateful. They are almost done reading book one of the Dreamcatcher […]

And returning to SFF books. I’m still working through some of my spooky season stack, but soon I plan to return to the library to grab the last of the books I selected back in January for my 24 in 2024 challenge. As a writer, it’s important to stay on top of what’s new in […]

Check out my mystery TBR for October. As a fantasy writer, I mainly read SFF novels and don’t prioritize mysteries, which I also love, often enough. For the past couple years, I have been grabbing a big library haul of detective/crime novels, cozy mysteries, and thrillers in honor of spooky season. It has been fun […]

Um, there’s not much to say. Summer ended, the kids went back to school, and the next day my husband was hit by a car while bicycling (see more at the bottom), so there has been little to no writing accomplished this past month. We were living day to day, moment to moment for a […]

Cozy and detective. During the last year, I’ve enjoyed quite a few mystery novels. I love getting a huge library haul in October for spooky season to avoid getting lost in SFF books. I also received a few of these from NetGalley or other digital ARC providers. I truly enjoy a good mystery investigation! Detective/Crime: […]

Space adventure or dystopian. Again this year, I didn’t read as much science fiction as fantasy and mystery/crime, but here are a few that I enjoyed: Pierce Brown – Iron Gold Lydia P. Brownlow – Vermilion Sunrise Bowen Greenwood – Exile War series Corrie Hathaway – The Oracus Test Emily Hamilton – The Stars Too […]

Another year of magic. It has been a great year reading fantasy! Here’s what I’ve been up to since last July: Epic Fantasy or Fairytale Fantasy S.A. Chakraborty – The Kingdom of Copper, The Empire of Gold (The Daevabad Trilogy) Ayana Gray – Beasts of War (Beasts of Prey) J.V. Hilliard – The Trillias Gambit […]

In ARCs. Last month, I took a break from reviewing Advance Reader Copies and gifted books from authors/publishers so that I could focus on my personal reading goals. I grabbed a big library haul of anticipated reads and cleared out a couple old nonfiction books I’d had on my shelf for a while. It was […]

And I’m giving myself one too. Soon my kiddos will be on school break but we don’t have many plans for those two weeks. Family time, holiday movies, rest, and long walks with the pup will likely fill our days. While I will likely pull out my laptop during those two weeks just for funsies, […]
