So long 2025…

And thanks for reminding me to flex.

Merry almost Christmas to those who celebrate and Happy Holidays to all! 2026 is coming soon, and it’s time to look back at my goals for 2025.

As planned, I stopped querying Seeds of Power to focus on editing another book to query in future. I had a couple of people beta read Red Hour, and I’m so excited to start editing & querying it next year. (I’m still open to self-pub but no definite plans yet.)

My writing group is going strong, inviting me into their amazing SFF worlds and helping me restructure and improve my Dreamcatcher series. They are entering the last third of book 2 (of 4) and I’m so grateful for their fellowship and support of Lena’s story.

I made a lot of progress on Shadow Walker, my new contemporary romantasy novel about a witch and a werewolf working a missing persons case together. It’s been fun to create a new world, similar to our own, but very different from the semi-dystopian and highly dangerous world in Red Hour.

I haven’t done anything with the short story I wrote a couple years ago, but oh well! It’s ok to leave it in a digital drawer for a bit longer. It’ll go up here on the website or be a signup freebie when I started a newsletter someday.

On the reading front, I’ve enjoyed a lot of ARC opportunities this year and used audiobooks to read more mystery/thriller novels and romcoms while still mainly reading SFF. I have continued to enjoy my fun bookstagram account. I took some time to sort through who I’m following and who’s following me, getting rid of inactive accounts, to attempt to create more authentic engagement. I took a good look at what’s working (and not) in terms of reading challenges/goals and am excited to shift my approach next year. (Stay tuned; I’ll share more in my next post setting goals for 2026.)

This past year has been a big one of changes on the homefront—the hubs launched his own veterinary practice, my oldest graduated high school and started college this fall, and my youngest started middle school. I remain happily focused on my thankfully healthy and happy family, and I’m looking forward to the next season of life.

Have a happy and safe new year!
