This holiday season…
We welcome new traditions.
We had a wonderful Thanksgiving break with my college-age son and I’m looking forward to him being home again soon for a whole month. While he was last here, he put up the outdoor lights and helped us decorate the Christmas tree, and it was wonderful to have this tradition just like any other year.
As our kids have grown older, we have dropped some of our traditions like decorating gingerbread houses or watching a lot of “family” holiday movies together. We tend to play pool in the basement, or binge random shows we are interested in or have Star Wars movie marathons instead.
No matter what new traditions arise now that we have a legal adult coming home for a few weeks before heading back out of state, we will prioritize spending time together—and we’ll laugh a lot from silliness that no one in this family will ever grow out of.
This holiday season, I’ll be putting some of my tasks/goals aside to soak up this precious family time. I’ll be reading some holiday books (and trying to finish some bookish challenges) beside a cozy fire with my pup and loved ones nearby.
Peace and joy to all!
