Starting the year…
As strong as possible.
Red Hour is in the hands of three beta readers and I’m so excited! I reread it before I sent it off to add some specific questions at the end, and was glad to see that I still really love this story. I’m looking forward to the improvements I can make based on the feedback I get. I always love the perspectives and plot holes found, and my subsequent drafts are always better than the first one I hand off to readers.
Last week, I reopened Dreamcatcher. I’m only making minor edits, just seeing how the story flows now since I made so many cuts last year based on my writing group’s feedback. They still have to read the last chapter of this book, but I want to start editing book two, Dreamweaver, based on some of the general feedback, so I can submit that book to them next. The first two fit tightly together like a duology even though the series is four books total. I need to know if it works, and their feedback has already been so helpful that I can’t wait to work on book two with them this year.
Since I have been ill and am still dealing with an injury, I have been reading a lot of books while I try to rest. After some fun holiday romances last month, I have shifted back to mainly SFF. My audiobooks are prioritizing mystery/thriller this year. Once I catch up on some old physical TBR, I’ll be sweeping clean my NetGalley ARCs. Some people do spring cleaning, but January gives me an itch to clean, be it the house or my leftover books from the prior year.
I hope to continue to work away at my 2025 goals and put them aside when other parts of life need to be prioritized. Wishing everyone health and happiness as we step boldly into 2025.
