A look back…

At my second year of book reviewing.

It’s been two years now since I joined NetGalley and BookishFirst, and began to receive ARCs from social media connections. Looking back, here are some thoughts now that I don’t feel like such a newb!

Bookstagramming (is that verb? it should be!) and getting book mail is still awesome. I have definitely gotten into eBooks even more this past year (and love them), but receiving a physical ARC in the mail still makes me clap my hands and smile and take photos to post in my stories.

I was invited to join BookSirens. It was a nice surprise to be found on Goodreads and sent that invitation. I now have the opportunity to support different authors/publishers through that site.

I still think reading samples (when possible) is important before saying yes to an ARC offer, and I am more particular now about when I will accept books outside my typical genres. I do like to read outside my comfort zone, but without as much experience reviewing that genre it isn’t as much fun for me to be an ARC reader.

I am ok with having particular places I post reviews—Instagram, Goodreads, Twitter, Amazon and Barnes & Noble—and stopping there! The world is full of book sites and social media platforms. I will never be on them all and that’s ok.

I’m looking forward to another year of reading and reviewing!
