It’s long past time…

To get back to my writing goals.

After a summer writing slump and a very busy start to the school year, I am finally catching my breath and ready to refocus on my creative work.

I’m going to read Seeds of Power one more time and edit my drafted query letter. I threw out my plan of researching a ton of agents ahead of time because it isn’t practical or efficient since status/circumstances can change. Instead, I’m going to just start! I’ll take the short agent list I already have, see who is accepting queries now, check out their submission rules, and send. I’ll do that for 5-10 agents, wait a couple weeks for a response, then—lather, rinse, repeat.

Once that is in underway, I have to decide whether I am going to try another edit of Dreamcatcher and Dreamweaver—which together fit nicely as a duology, but are also books 1-2 of a 4-book series—or if I want a smaller editing project. If the latter, I’ll tackle my short story Moon Blessed.

To create new material, I’ll return to an unfinished manuscript Red Hour—a standalone novel that has big holes and bold notes like “insert fight scene.”

My goals are loose right now, but the most important thing is that I don’t let my to do list and my volunteering commitments completely eat up my writing time anymore. I have to give myself a couple hours a day. Once my writing habits are reestablished, I’ll try to give myself tighter goals.

Wish me luck!
