When to take that project…
And shove it in a virtual drawer.
I finished the big edits for SEEDS OF POWER but have to do another sweep for some minor changes and a continuity check. I have to read slowly, think about a few more possible changes, and then prep the document for one last beta round with some volunteer readers. But I’m not ready to start that work.
This past week, I didn’t want to open SoP at all. I kept working on random scenes that aren’t part of any project, beta reading for other writers, and felt drawn to pull out my Dreamcatcher series again. I had previously told myself that I would work on Dreamcatcher after SoP was out with beta readers. But I realized that I needed a small break from SoP after so many big edits. I still want to finish those minor edits by Jan 1st (and I think I can), but taking last week and maybe even this week to work lightly on another project, to visit another world and different characters, is the healthiest choice for me creatively.
So I took SEEDS OF POWER and shoved it into a virtual drawer for a short time. I pulled out DREAMKEEPER (book no3 of the Dreamcatcher series), started reading through it, and I’m making minor edits to prep it for a beta round.
Very soon, feeling refreshed, I’ll sit down and finish those SoP edits already.
